2nd African Prosperity Dialogue 2024 kicks off in Ghana

Key development and business stakeholders are met in Accra for the second edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD).
This was organized by the Africa Prosperity Network, and supported by the United Nations in Ghana, ECA and other partners. The 3-day event is on the theme “Delivering Prosperity in Africa: Produce. Add Value. Trade”, seeking to harness collective strengths to foster sustainable growth and develop policies and initiatives that will see to growth of the continent.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, highlighted the wealth of the continent saying, “We have everything we need to transform Africa into a global powerhouse of the future.” Hs further shared aspirations to make Ghana a visa-free country for Africans. “The Government of Ghana is poised to make Ghana visa-free for all Africans beginning this year”, he noted.
The Secretary-General, AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. Wamekele Mene said the oneness of Africa and the future has become a reality” and “we must dare to invent the future.” He also spoke of the many protocols in the pipeline to protect African Investors and also women and youth in trade as well as digital trading.
The former President of the Republic of Mozambique and also the chairperson of Africa Forum, H.E Joaquin Alberto Chrissano emphasized the need for Africans to shape the narrative of Africa and as Africa embraces the benefits of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area, “we will build a future defined by our determination to produce not just for production’s sake but to feed our people and reduce hunger to ensure that every country in Africa becomes fully secured”.
"With the right mindset and data, we can unleash great opportunity for businesses in Africa to thrive" echoed the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana, Mr Charles Abani as he moderated a high-level dialogue which was centred on “Doing business differently- Adding value to what we produce”.
The event sparked so many deliberations and action plans that will move the continent forward in terms of sustainable development and the right networking to see to the growth of the industrial sector specifically of Ghana’s economy and the African continent at large focusing mainly on the private sector being empowered and pushed to achieve more.
