UN Ghana Congratulates Ghana

The United Nations in Ghana warmly congratulates the President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the recently concluded Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Ghana. 

We also commend the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on his exemplary statesmanship in conceding defeat. 

We especially thank all Ghanaians, the stakeholders involved in the conduct of the elections - notably the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service for their excellent work as well as the myriad of observers and civic groups who supported the electoral process and this historic, peaceful election. We applaud Ghana for this success and holding up the torch of democracy for Africa and the world. Ayekoo Ghana. 

We take this moment to commiserate with the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives and pray for a peaceful redress of the events surrounding these sad incidents. 

The United Nations stands proud with Ghana on this monumental success.
