Ghana: Health worker on the COVID-19 pandemic’s frontline
08 October 2021
In February this year, the UN Information Centre followed a frontline health worker, Madam Scholastica Dery, a public health nurse at the Greater Accra Hospital in Accra, to tell the story of frontline workers and the sacrifices they are making to save lives. The video story was also to demonstrate the strong partnership between the UN and Ghana and the support that the UN, through WHO and UNICEF, is providing to the national COVID-19 vaccination and vaccine deployment efforts through the COVAX initiative.
We further facilitated a meeting between Scholastica and the UN Secretary-General, António, Guterres, at which time Scholastica spoke about her experience. She also used the opportunity to call for more support for vaccine equity.
I am happy to announce that the 'Scholastica story' has finally been released as a UN in Action episode.
