The United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Ghana
The United Nations works with countries to advance sustainable development through coordinated, integrated and people‑centred support. In Ghana, the UN brings together its diverse expertise to support national development priorities, strengthen systems and institutions, and ensure that no one is left behind.
At the heart of this effort is the United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO). As the highest-ranking UN development representative in the country, the Resident Coordinator leads and coordinates the work of the UN Country Team, ensuring that UN entities operate together as one—strategically aligned, accountable and responsive to Ghana’s needs.
This brochure introduces the role of the Resident Coordinator, the functions of the Resident Coordinator’s Office, and how the reformed UN Development System delivers coherent support through the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. It highlights how the UN in Ghana works in partnership with Government, development partners, civil society and communities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and support Ghana’s long‑term development vision.
